Double this recipe to make 7 quarts.
Bring the following to a boil:
1 pint vinegar (2 cups)
4 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup salt
Place cucumbers in quart jars along with the following in each quart:
1 teaspoon dill seed
1 clove garlic, sliced

Makes 4 quarts.
Wash cukes.
Cut in 1-inch lengths or 1/2-inch slices.
Fill 4 quart jars.
Add to each jar:
3-4 onion slices
2 pieces celery (1-inch pieces)
2-3 heads dill OR 1 tsp. dill seed
Syrup
4 cups sugar
1/2 cup pickling salt
1 quart vinegar
2 cups water

12 cups pickling cucumbers, unpeeled, chopped or ground
4 1/2 cups white distilled vinegar, 5% acidity
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup granulated sugar
